Les Arts Décoratifs
Christie’s is delighted to present The Château de Tournay Collection: Decorative Arts.
Assembled over several decades by a discerning collector, this collection of exceptional works unfolds within a unique setting, the former residence of Voltaire, like a carefully preserved treasure. It embodies the refined elegance of eighteenth-century French taste, subtly enriched by the European openness of the Grand Tour.
Royal and distinguished private furniture — by BVRB, Georges Jacob, or from the James de Rothschild collection — alongside eighteenth-century bronze sculptures and antique bronzes, silverware, tapestries, porphyry objects, twentieth-century design pieces, and contemporary art, all harmoniously converse to form an ensemble where each work, chosen for its provenance, rarity, and grace, tells the same story.
Complementing this living décor is a remarkable library of rare books, a reflection of a passionate and erudite bibliophile (sale on 18 June).
This exceptional, coherent, and luminous collection, in which taste is expressed as a true art of living, will be offered at Christie’s Paris on 17 June.
