The Traditional Collector

The nearly 400-lot spring Auction presents a collection of Asian, European, and American fine and decorative arts. Highlights of the Fine Art selection include a moody forest landscape by Gevorg Bashinjaghian, the dramatic Hunted by Wolves by Adolf Schreyer, and luminous landscapes by William Henry Singer Jr.. Elegant still life paintings feature works such as a figurine-and-floral composition by Joseph Raphael and a floral still life by Albert Andr?. An assortment of portraits, still lifes, and genre scenes further enhances the offering. Asian decorative arts are equally impressive, showcasing porcelains such as a Kangxi-period blue and white baluster vase and a pair of Guangxu Period green-glazed dragon dishes. The category also includes an extensive collection of snuff bottles crafted from porcelain, jade, hardstone, and interior-painted glass, along with bronzes, silk embroidered robes, and scroll paintings. European and American furniture and decorative arts feature distinguished designs by Fran?ois Linke and Paul Sormani, alongside English furniture, period giltwood frames, pietra dura plaques, Persian rugs, and fine porcelain dinner services by Royal Copenhagen, Royal Crown Derby, Herend, and a Louis-Philippe S?vres 'Service des Princes'. Additional highlights include KPM plaques, Baccarat, Val Saint Lambert, and Waterford stemware and decorative objects. The silver category is led by a Faberg? ruby set silver dragon table lighter and includes flatware and hollowware by Tiffany, Wallace, Towle, Gorham, and Reed & Barton. Turn-of-the-century design is represented by J&J Kohn furniture designed by Josef Hoffmann, a Tiffany student lamp, and a striking Gall? sunflower vase with applied decoration.
