The Martin collection features an outstanding selection of 18th & 19th century Mid-Atlantic, Northeastern, and Midwestern country furniture and accessories with exceptional original painted surfaces including unusual cupboards, bucket benches, all types of tables, dry sinks, apothecary and spice cabinets, settles, New England homespun-upholstered fireside chairs, hanging cupboards and shelves, chests and boxes, desks, exceptional painted bowls and pantry boxes from large to small, other fine painted treenware, painted baskets, etc.; along with folk paintings; trade signs; a collection of 19th century splint brooms from small to large; rare lanterns and other primitive lighting; collection of Western PA striper stoneware; redware; early rag dolls and teddy bears; a large selection of early homespun and printed-cotton textiles and clothing; garden accessories including chimney pots, saddle stones, cast-iron urns, and troughs; plus more.
