We regret that your auction experience with Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates (JSEA) was unfavorable. We strive to exceed market standard with every transaction. In response to the points made in the review: 1. The shipping form was received by the UPS store on March 10th. Payment was made to JSEA on March 12th. At this point you were 113th on the list. The lot was pulled on March 12th and soft packed for UPS delivery on March 14th. The lot was delivered to the UPS store on March 18th. Because of the sizable auctions we conduct, it can take up to three weeks for lots to go to the UPS store-as referenced in the terms and conditions, as well as on the invoice. An email was sent to you from JSEA notifying you when the items were being delivered to UPS. 2. Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates works with three UPS stores where we find their rates to be comparable. We choose not to use FedEx as they do not refund the insured amount if lost or stolen. We agree that shipping charges are inordinately high at this time. Given your location as compared to ours, that adds to the fees. JSEA has no authority over what UPS charges or their conditions. 3. Following is the published condition report for the lot purchased: "Condition Fair to very good overall condition with wear, surface scratches, and nicks, cases with one or more dents and/or worn spots/losses to finishes and engravings, at least three dials with one or more hairlines, some hands with spots/areas of loss to bluing and/or rusting; New York Standard 15-jewel with detached minute hand that is included. Illinois 17-jewel and New York Standard 11-jewel watches currently running but not timed for accuracy, remainder not currently running and in unknown working condition." The report speaks directly to the issues mentioned in your review.

This review is quite disappointing and contrary to the conversations we have had over the past several weeks. When the breakage occurred, JSEA notified you immediately, apologizing for the error and sent you a refund in an amount to which you agreed. When you then contacted JSEA about the shipping cost, we offered to bring the lots back to the gallery at our expense and attempt to accommodate a more reasonable amount. We do not handle shipping, but rather refer clients to a local UPS store to facilitate the process. The other option offered to you so as to recover some of your investment, was to re-consign the items in your behalf. The fiduciary duty of every auction house is to protect the consignor and ensure that they get paid for their presented items. We stand by the way this matter has been handled and will let the excellent JSEA reputation, not skewed perceptions, prevail.

Thank you for bidding us. A quick look at the condition report for these lots note some of the damage you refer to. Hopefully, you saw this before bidding. Shipping has gotten so expensive. We work with multiple UPS stores and they all are in line with one another but you are right, it is very expensive. We hope this will not stop you in the future from joining us. We appreciate your business.
