On Sunday, June 8, 2014, Black Rock Galleries will hold its Important Spring Antique Auction featuring American antiques, books and art from the Thomas Mellon Evans estate, an impressive collection of antique Spanish glass from a the G. Maria Jarreau-Heller estate along with an eclectic mix of rare finds and unique pieces that have been privately held for decades. Highlighting the selection of books in this auction are a first edition of John James Audubon?s ?Birds of America?. The seven volume set was found in the Billy Baldwin Room of the Evan?s River House residence nestled amongst other leather bound decorative books of no commercial value. American antique furniture is well represented with a pair of walnut, Queen Anne style Philadelphia chairs, circa 1750 that were found in the basement storage of the River House. An 18th century piecrust tilt top tea table in the Philadelphia style, a Massachusetts mahogany tea table, circa 1760 and a Massachusetts Chippendale candle stand with star inlay, circa 1760 ? 1780 are also featured.
