Important Estate Jewelry

The December 6 auction of Important Estate Jewelry will offer dazzling pieces spanning the Antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras by some of the world’s most prestigious makers, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Buccellati. Also featured will be fine watches and objets de vertu, including elegant compacts, cigarette cases and cufflinks. A special section of the auction will be devoted to fine jewelry from the estate of jewelry designer Helen Woodhull (lots 2001-2021). Featured in the sale is a selection of exquisite diamond rings highlighted by a ring by Van Cleef & Arpels set with a pear-shaped D-color diamond of 4.59 carats (lot 2354). Also offered are a ring with an emerald-cut diamond of approx. 7.18 carats (lot 2359) and another with an octagon-cut D-color diamond of approx. 3.36 carats (lot 2355). Notable among the selection of fine brooches is a diamond flower clip brooch, circa 1950 set with approx. 24.00 carats of diamonds and bearing French assay marks (lot 2356). Bracelets offer a number of examples set with diamonds and colored stones. Featured are a diamond bracelet fashioned in a stylized ribbon motif and set with approx. 10.25 carats of diamonds, circa 1915 (lot 2351), a diamond bracelet set with approx. 6.50 carats of diamonds, circa 1925 (lot 2353), and a diamond and black onyx bracelet set with 2.80 carats of diamonds, circa 1920 (lot 2352). Diamond and sapphire jewelry is highlighted by an Art Deco diamond and sapphire bracelet composed of five fancy-shaped links, circa 1925 (lot 2358) and an Art Deco sapphire and diamond straight line bracelet, signed Marcus, circa 1920 (lot 2357). Of more recent vintage is a Cartier gold, sapphire and diamond flexible bombe bracelet (lot 2332).
