The partial personal estates of legendary Texas leaders Charline (1928-2019) and Billy Joe "Red" McCombs (1927-2023), whose impact in areas including business, sports, civic affairs, philanthropy, and education was as deep as their passion for collecting and preserving important objects of beauty and historical significance. This landmark auction event features pieces from the McCombs' iconic home in the Olmos Park neighborhood of central San Antonio, as well as pieces formerly on long-term loan to institutions including the Bexar County Courthouse, San Antonio Academy, and Southwestern University, and includes Western and American artifacts, frontier and early Texas pieces, relics from the Alamo and other Spanish missionary sites, historically significant firearms and swords including outstanding Kentucky rifles, saddles and other tack, Native American artifacts, as well as San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Vikings collectibles, personal items including Red's cowboy boots and hats, jewelry, and fine art, silver, antiques, rugs, and decorative arts from the home, along with complimentary items from several other prominent Texas estates.
