1861 2nd Lieutenant Hans Peter Jorgensen Appointment Killed in Gettysburg. Commission Letter from Massachusetts Governor John A. Andrew appointing Hans Peter Jorgensen as Second Lieutenant Company D of the 15th Mass Regiment. Document says that Jorgensen was from Leominster, MA in Worcester County. Accompanying documentation states that he was a Danish immigrant who was wounded twice in the Schleswig War and in the Civil War at Ball's Bluff. He received a fatal wound on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. Document 16" x 10." Good overall condition.
