Russian Silver and Silver-Gilt Cheroot Case, Cyrillic Initials "YA.B" Possibly for the Workmaster Yakov Borisov, Moscow (1896-1908), Assay Master Andrey Antonovich Kovalsky, Moscow, 1856. Of purse form with hinged double cover and swivel fastener, each corner chased and engraved on the front with foliate scrolls joined by matching scrolls, on a rayed ground on the upper flap and a striated ground on the lower flap, the back with a view of a cityscape, possibly Moscow, within a scroll and diaperwork border, the interior silver-gilt, maker's mark YA.B, assay master's initials and year date 1856, silver standard mark "84" and city mark for Moscow inside case and each flap.5.09 troy oz.H: 2.875 in.
