
US Model 1795 Musket by Springfield Dated 1812
War of 1812
.72 caliber. 44.5" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot reconverted flintlock muzzleloading musket with brass blade front sight, socket bayonet lug on top of barrel, missing the sling swivels and with a reproduction iron ramrod. Reconverted flint lock with standard Springfield markings and dated 1812 at the tail. Buttplate tang dated 1812 as well. Breech marked US and with P/{Eagle Head}/V proofs. No visible cartouches. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Fair to Good. Bore dark, dirty, oxidized and pitted. Metal with a mottled and heavily oxidized appearance with some evenly distributed pinpricking and light pitting. Lock somewhat crudely reconverted to flint but mechanically functional. Tang screw replaced. Wood with heavy wear, broken through the wrist and crudely repaired and with chipped loss around the lock mortise. Wood lightly sanded, showing numerous bumps, dings and mars.
