
Attic Condition Springfield Model 1842 Musket

.69 caliber. 42" barrel. NSN. Heavily oxidized metal, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading percussion musket with brass blade front sight, no rear sight, socket bayonet lug under the barrel, sling swivels and missing the ramrod. Weakly marked Springfield lock dated 1848 at tail. Tang dated 1844. Barrel with weak proof marks. No visible cartouches. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Fair. Bore dark and rusty. Metal thickly oxidized with a dark brown patina, scattered surface roughness and some pitting. Lock markings weak, eagle partially defaced. Mechanically functional lock. Wood well worn, with added finish, numerous scattered bumps, dings and mars and an overall appearance suggesting the stock was wet for a period of time.
