
Description
(1822 - 1899) Confederate brigadier general, commanded the 'Tramp Brigade'. Walker was severely wounded and captured at the Battle of Ware Bottom Church during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign. He was struck in the left arm and lost his left leg after he led a charge into the Union line and was subjected to a rifle volley after refusing to surrender, and was then captured. War-date A.E.S., 3 x 7.75 in., [n.p., n.d.], concerning a man's requested leave: '...Ten days I do not consider should be given in these times. Of this you are the best judge...' Fine condition, matted with a photograph and set into a silvered wood frame.
