Book signed twice in full: Signed 'Millard Fillmore Jany. 26,1857' on verso of first leaf, signed and dated again in the same manner on title page, the book being a volume from 'The Volume of American Biography' by Alexander S. Mackenzie, compiled by Jared Sparks (Boston: Little, Brown & Co.), 1864. 444pp. 8vo., in brown covers. This volume concerns the life of Continental Navy hero Stephen Decatur, Jr. and offers an exceptional history. Top of spine chipped, cover just starting to separate from spine, otherwise in fine condition.
