FRANZ HALDER (1884–1972) German general and the chief of staff of the Army High Command (OKH) from 1938-1942. He directed the planning and implementation of Operation Barbarossa, the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union. Early presentation signed book by Adm. REINHARD SCHEER (1863-1928) Admiral of the Imperial German Navy, led the High Seas Fleet at the Battle of Jutland, his work: Book: 'Vom Segelschiff zum U-Boot' ('From the Sailing Ship to the Submarine') (Leipzig: Quelle & Meyer), 1925. 390pp. 8vo. in blue cloth with gilt title and spine, the spine sunned a bit. Halder inscribes the half-title page to an oberleutnant and dates his signature '1925'. Very good.
