Group of four mixed media assemblage artworks by American artist Mitchell Melson Jr. (1944-2018). The lot includes two sculptural mask compositions and two additional abstract assemblage pieces created from found objects and mixed materials. Elements such as metal fragments, decorative hardware, rope, hair, shell, and other repurposed components reflect Melson's signature style of transforming everyday materials into expressive symbolic forms.One framed assemblage titled "Three Graces" is dated 06/30/02 on the verso. Another metal wall sculpture is signed Melson 03. The two mask compositions combine metal, shells, and organic materials to create striking tribal inspired forms consistent with the artist's assemblage aesthetic.Sizes include 17" x 14", 12" x 10", 11" x 9", and 28" x 14".Mitchell Melson Jr., born in New Orleans in 1944, was a self taught assemblage artist known for constructing sculptural works from salvaged materials. Working primarily in Chicago, he developed the concept of UTRIBE, blending ancestral cultural symbolism with contemporary found objects.
