
A YELLOW-GLAZED BOWL Hongzhi six-character mark and of the period Delicately potted with steep rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a slightly everted rim, covered overall save for the base with a brilliant egg-yolk yellow glaze, attractively applied with Japanese kintsugi restoration, the reign mark in underglaze blue. 18.4cm (7 1/4in) diam. Yellow monochromes were reserved for the sole use of the Imperial Court and played an important role in Court ritual sacrifices at the Diqitian, Altar of Earth.
