
FIVE BRONZE TURTLE GROUPS AND THREE 'LEAF' GROUPS Meiji period Comprising: five turtle groups realistically modelled with a small turtle perched on the back of the large turtle, one of which with a pierced removable cover, two signed seimin chu, one signed seimin, the others signed by kose and zuiho; the bronze gourd wrapped in leafy vines and an insect perched atop; the leaf realistically modelled with folded edges and insect holes, two frogs holding onto the stem, signed sadamata; and an enclosed lotus leaf decorated with a frog with its head raised, the mark partially effaced and possibly reads zuisai.
