A RARE ARITA RETICULATED 'BIJIN' DISH Edo period, 18th century Decorated in iron red, green enamels and gilt to the centre with a bijin seated painting a screen and examining a scroll unfurled on her lap, before a decorative floral screen, within a reticulated foliate design border and gilt decorated underglaze blue bands, the exterior with cherry blossom stems. 26.6cm (10 1/2in) diam. Footnotes: 十八世紀有田燒美人圖盤 The elaborate pierced border appears to copy a Chinese famille verte prototype dating from the late Kangxi period.
