A PAIR OF ARITA CRICKET CAGES Edo period, 18th century Of square section, moulded to each face with shaped panels variously enclosing pine and blossoming prunus, birds before bamboo and wild flowers, all on gilt honeycomb pattern reticulated grounds, within iron red whorl pattern borders. 9cm (3 1/2in) high x 9.7cm (3 7/8in) wide x 9cm (3 1/2in) deep.
