
A PAIR OF IMARI OVOID VASES, A PAIR OF FACETED SPRINKLERS AND A MOULDED 'PEONY' VASE Edo period, 17th/18th century The pair of vases decorated with scenes of bijin variously seated on pavilion terraces and strolling in a flowering garden amongst butterflies below moulded kiku head and scrolling foliate bands to the shoulders; the faceted sprinklers enamelled and gilt with inscribed cartouches amongst pine and prunus blossom; the ovoid jar moulded to each side with a large peony bloom decorating a hanging tied with a cord before blossoming branches, the shoulder with scattered blossom.
