
A BLUE AND WHITE 'SCHOLAR' BOWL Circa 1436-1464 Finely potted with rounded sides rising from a short, inverted foot to a slightly everted rim, the interior painted at the centre with a medallion enclosing floral sprays beneath a crescent moon, all below a key-fret band encircling the rim, the exterior painted with a scholar reclining in a moonlit landscape amid drifting clouds, moon, rocks and trees. 16.7cm (6 1/2in) diam.
