Moreover, the term 'blue-and-white lotus' 青蓮 (qinglian) is a homophone of 'purity and integrity' 清廉 (qinglian), aligning with the rulers' promotion of incorruptibility. It was therefore a standard design of the Qing Imperial kiln throughout the dynasty.
