
A CHALCEDONY AGATE 'SHOULAO' SNUFF BOTTLE 18th/19th century Of rounded rectangular shape, the body rising from a short foot ring around a flat base to a cylindrical neck, the pale translucent stone suffused with darker inclusions cleverly used in the depiction of a bearded Shoulao sitting beneath a leafy spray beside two flying bats, the details of the face, vegetation and animals finely incised, stopper. 6cm (2 3/8in) high.
