A CHALCEDONY AGATE 'TORCH BEARER' SNUFF BOTTLE 18th/19th century The rounded rectangular body supported on a short straight foot and below a cylindrical neck with flat mouth rim, the translucent pale grey stone marked with brown and black inclusions, the central ones ingeniously used to depict the dynamic body of a dancer in motion, the face expressive and the arms incised with a torch in one hand, the reverse plain, stopper. 5.7cm (2 1/2in) high.
