A charming pair of embroidered and painted textile panels depicting traditional Himalayan life, created in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim in northeastern India.
Each canvas shows finely detailed figures in mountainous landscapes, complete with pack animals, prayer flags, and Tibetan attire.
Both panels combine hand embroidery and paint to vivid effect, illustrating caravan life along what might be seen as a romanticised interpretation of the Silk Road or Himalayan trade routes.

Date: Both inscribed Gangtok, March 1982 to the reverse
