WILLBORG, PETER, Skånsk Allmogevävnad 1700 - 1850. Stockholm 1989, no. 42 *** HANSEN, VIVEKA, Swedish Textile Art. Traditional Marriage Weavings From Scania. London 1996, no. 48
Joined together from two vertical panels, this flatweave in the rollakan technique is a bröllopstäcke, i.e. a bedspread for a bridal couple. It was made in the Gärds district of north eastern Skåne. The field design consists of 24 octagons in alternating ground colours, most of them very light. Six black-ground octagons provide rhythmic accents in the tile-like repeat. A finely stepped white band runs in a zig-zagging line through the light green and light red border decorated with small stars. Very good condition.+
