Description
second half 19th century, 272 x 104 cm, East Caucasus, Shirvan
The three large octagrams aligned on the central axis of the midnight blue field each contain an animal-tree-motif. The field ground is densely covered in various small and larger designs. They include depictions of two speckled quadrupeds. Tiny white blossoms fill all the free spaces. Both ends of the field show the pair of large confronting peacocks spreading their tails that is characteristic of Akstafa. The very beautiful main border features offset birds on a white ground.
