Un ensemble comparable, représentant une figure à cheval coiffée d'un chapeau à large bord et entourée de petits personnages d'accompagnement, faisait partie d'un groupe de plusieurs sculptures provenant de la région de Lagos et présenté lors de de l'Exposition Colonial and Indian Exhibition de 1886. Cet ensemble d'objets est répertorié comme ayant été offert par Ajassah Apena au défunt Docemo. Ils sont aujourd'hui conservés au British Museum, le groupe représentant un cavalier portant le numéro d'inventaire Af1886,1209.6. - The precise function of this Yoruba group is unknown. A similar group with a figure on horseback wearing a brimmed hat surrounded by diminutive attendants was one of a number of carvings from the Lagos area exhibited in the Colonial and Indian Exhibition in 1886. The group of carvings is recorded as having been presented by Ajassah Apena to the late Docemo, King of Lagos. They are now in the British Museum, the horseman group with the accession number Af1886,1209.6.
