TAKEDOWN RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# T56266. Bbl. 19 5/16". SA-22 semi-automatic rifle mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported by Browning Arms Company during the mid to late 1950s. Top of the bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN BELGIUM", with "22 LONG RIFLE" marked on the left, and "BROWNING PATENTS" marked on the right. Sides of the receiver feature standard engraving consisting of a wavy line borders with foliate scrollwork at the center. Underside of trigger guard is engraved with a foliate motif. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Checkered wood forearm and pistol grip buttstock with grooved blued steel buttplate. Dovetailed blade front sight with 4-position square notch rear sight. Top of receiver is grooved for a scope mount attachment. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and trigger guard. Blued steel mag. tube catch ring is numbered "T58369". CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few light superficial handling marks and spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. exhibits light to mild wear, as well as some scratches and handling marks around the edge of the muzzle. Mirror bore, exhibiting a bulge towards the breech (primarily only visible when viewing from the breech end), while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a 13/16" crack on the left side of the wrist that stems from the receiver.
