Cal. 45-70. S# 502291. Over 200,000 of this last trapdoor Springfield were made, most saw hard long use. Standard configuration 32.6" barrel, Buffington long range rear sight, scarce triangular rod bayonet. Trapdoor breech marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873". Lock with eagle & "US / SPRINGFIELD". CONDITION: good overall, dark uncleaned surfaces, partially discernible cartouche. Stock is sound with age crack opposite lock. Mechanically crisp, good rifled bore. (01-29027/JS). ANTIQUE. $600-700.
