Produced by the Canadian Chewing Gum Ltd., this 1933-1934 pre-war hockey set was one of the first of its kind to be offered with chewing gum. The card's bottom third included a cut-off redemption where fans could attempt to spell team names to win a "Free Home Hockey Game". This redemption offer led to many of these cards missing their bottom thirds. The group of seven cards offered here are made up of 6/7 Hall of Fame inductees, including Howie Morenz. The group includes Howie Morenz, Aurel Joliat, Lionel Conacher, George Hainsworth, Harvey Jackson, Charlie Conacher, and Lorne Chabot.
Size
5.5" x 3.5".
Condition
The cards display well, but all exhibit minor to major creasing. Morenz suffers from a bottom left corner crease with minor staining. Chabot is creased severely. The remaining cards exhibit minor wrinkles and minor surface toning/stains. Please note: Morenz, Joliat and L. Conacher have been encapsulated and graded by ACA with grades that do not match modern grading standards.
