This financial document offered here is a personal glimpse into the life of Hall of Fame outfielder Roberto Clemente during the prime of his professional career. Dated March 15, 1965, the check was issued from the Bank of Puerto Rico for the amount of $25.00 in support of his brother, Osvaldo Clemente. The piece is remarkably unique as it features Roberto’s handwriting in two distinct locations: his signature at the bottom right and his brother's name, Osvaldo, inscribed at the top middle. The year 1965 represents a pinnacle of Clemente’s dominance on the diamond. During this season, the Pittsburgh Pirates legend secured his fourth National League batting title with a .329 average and earned his fifth consecutive Gold Glove Award. Beyond his statistical brilliance, Clemente was deeply rooted in his commitment to his family and his native Puerto Rico, a devotion that is physically manifested in this personal artifact. The check is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
