A recent find, and a part of a single family-owned collection, this 1952 Topps #407 Ed Mathews rookie card has recently been graded by PSA. The #407 Mathews remains one of the toughest cards in the 1952 Topps high-number series and represents one of baseball's greats in his rookie season. Eddie Mathews was a powerful third baseman and one of the premier sluggers of his era. Spending most of his career with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, he hit 512 home runs and was a 12-time All-Star, helping lead the Braves to a World Series title in 1957. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1978, Mathews is remembered as one of the greatest third basemen in baseball history.
Size
5.5" x 3.5".
Condition
The card received a recent grade of 2.5 Good+ from PSA and is an example with excellent eye appeal. The centring of this card is near perfect, a rare trait for the 1952 set. The card's corners are imperfect, and edges suffer minor nicks. Excellent colour and registration.
