The first official NHL All-Star Game on October 13, 1947, at Maple Leaf Gardens was a fiercely competitive, physical contest—featuring 12 minor penalties and multiple fights—as a team of NHL All-Stars defeated the defending Toronto Maple Leafs 4–3. Played as a fundraiser for the players’ pension fund, the game showcased intense rivalries, highlighted by stars like Maurice Richard and a game-winning goal from Max Bentley, setting a far grittier tone than modern All-Star exhibitions. Offered here are two programs from that inaugural game, momentos from what would become a staple game of NHL seasons to come.
