Offered here is a pair of boxing posters featuring a pair of the biggest names in boxing history, Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson. The smaller of the two posters is promoting the 1975 title bout between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner is etched in sports lore as the ultimate "Cinderella story" that almost came true. While Wepner, a massive underdog known as the "Bayonne Bleeder," was expected to be an easy knockout for Ali, he shocked the world by knocking the champion down in the ninth round. Ali eventually reclaimed control and secured a technical knockout with only 19 seconds remaining in the 15th round, but Wepner’s gritty endurance proved the highlight of the night. Most famously, watching Wepner's gutsy performance on television inspired a struggling actor named Sylvester Stallone to write the screenplay for Rocky. The larger poster is promoting the July 14, 1972 Floyd Patterson vs Pedro Agosto fight in which Patterson Defeated Agosto by sixth-round technical knockout (TKO), at the Singer Bowl in Queens, New York. Patterson dominated the fight, opening a cut over Agosto's left eye in the second round and landing heavy combinations, leading the referee to stop the bout after the sixth round.
