During the 1945 season, the Toronto Maple Leafs were significantly reshaped by the height of World War II, as the roster was depleted by players serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. Owner Conn Smythe, a veteran of both World Wars, famously led by example by enlisting and commanding an anti-aircraft battery. The Maple Leafs' involvement in the war is showcased on this 1944 Calendar page, showing many of the Maple Leafs in uniform. The page is displayed behind museum glass and has been professionally framed and mounted. 1945 is the first year the Toronto Maple Leaf Calendars were printed in colour.
