
KANETSUNE LINEAGE (ACTIVE 16TH CENTURY) A Minor Tantō with Mounts Muromachi period (1333-1573), 16th century Of hirazukuri configuration forged in itamehada with a suguha tempered edge based in nie, the ubu tang with one hole, signed Kanetsune, with a one-piece silver habaki, 9 5/8in (24.4cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard; the aikuchi goshirae comprising a dark wood saya and tsuka applied with silvered-metal stalks of bamboo, the silver fittings including a koiguchi, fuchi-gashira, and kozuka and warikōgai, all chiseled in relief with bamboo on an ishime ground 16 1/4in (41.3cm) long overall (3).
