
KANEFUSA LINEAGE A Mino Shintō Wakizashi with Mounts Momoyama (1573-1615) or Edo period (1615-1868), 16th/17th century Of hirazukuri configuration forged in runing itamehada in jinie with a chōji midare tempered edge with ko-nie, nioi, ashi, and tobiyaki, ending in a Jizō bōshi, the ubu tang with sujikai file marks, signed Kanefusa, 15 1/2in (39.8cm) long, with a two-piece silver habaki, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard The 19th-century koshira-e comprising a black-lacquer ishimeji saya fitted with a gold and shakudō kozuka with a dragon, the tsuka wrapped in blue cotton over same fitted with Mino-school shakudo nanako fuchi-gashira decorated with flowers and grasses in gold takazōgan and takabori, and gilt menuki formed as Chinese lions, the Momoyama-period yamagane mokkō tsuba chiseled on the surface with squirrel against crashing waves, the eyes picked out in gold 23 3/4in (60.3cm) long overall (3).
