
OKU MOTOHIRA A Satsuma Wakizashi Edo period (1615-1868), dated 1777 Of honzukuri, iorimune, chū-gissaki, toriizori configuration forged in itamehada with a toranba tempered edge in nie with aranie, and uchinkoe, ending in a midare komi bōshi, the ubu tang with one hole, katte sagari file marks, signed Satsuyōshi Motohira and dated An'ei rokunen hinoto tori hachigatsu (Eighth month of 1777), 19 5/8in (49.8cm) long, with a two-piece silver habaki, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard (2).
