
KIYOMARO LINEAGE (ACTIVE CIRCA 1850) A Musashi Katana Edo period (1615-1868), dated 1852 The robust blade of honzukuri, iorimune configuration with a wide kasane and thick mihaba, extended kissaki and toriizori curvature forged in tightly packed ko-itamehada with a chōji midare tempered edge in ko-nie with ashi, saka-ashi, yo, chikei, and sunagashi, ending in a ko-maru bōshi, chiseled with bohi on both sides, the ubu tang with two holes (one overlapping), katte sagari file marks, signed Minamoto Kiyomaro and dated Kaei gonen nigatsu no hi (A day in the second month of 1852), 27 1/8in (68.9cm) long, with a one-piece gilt habaki, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard (2).
