Masahide was born in 1750. He first studied under Shitahara Yoshihide in 1771. He produced swords from An'ei era (1772-1780) till the mid-Bunsei era (around 1825) working in many different styles, copying the work of many famous smiths, such as Tsuda Sukehiro, Shinkai and several from the early Bizen school.
