A MATCHLOCK GUN Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century The octagonal iron barrel set into a solid wood stock and decorated below the sites with cherry blossoms in silver overlay, the muzzle banded with silver wrapping, the stock decorated with brass plates with flower blossoms, hares, birds, and lengthy strapping on the underside chased with rolling clouds and a plate with a kabuto (helmet) next to the hammer and flash pan, a burned seal on the stock; with a modern wood stand 50 3/4in (128.9cm) long (2).
