Description

Table lamp Hans Ofner (design attributed), Vienna, c. 1905 white metal, silver-plated. Round, stepped stand with all-round pearl rim decoration. Starting from a central, slender column shaft, framed by four square, vertical struts. The wide, circular chandelier wreath with geometrically structured, coffered fields and all-round pearl rim decoration. Lampshade made of opal glass with all-round thread decoration in green, intertwined like a net and irregularly, partially zoned and pulled apart to form elongated orgic cell structures. Made by the Elisabethenhütte, Pallme-König & Habel. Electrified, function not tested. H. 78 cm Hans Ofner was a pupil of Josef Hoffmann at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts.
