Description
Important lidded jug Meissen around 1750, painter Johann Gregorius Höroldt porcelain with coloured glaze decoration and gilding. On the cylindrical corpus, the front of the chinoiserie scene is extremely finely painted: figures in exotic clothing at a courtly or diplomatic meeting, in the centre the presentation of a spread plan or cloth with a cartographic representation, inscribed ''Siam'', flanked by escorts, servants and observers. The scenery is embedded in an idealized garden landscape with floral staffages, palm trees and insects. Below it is a richly gilded rococo ornamental band with openwork latticework; three cartouches with further miniature chinoiseries are embedded in it, two in purple camaieu. Side Indian flower bouquets. Stand ring ( with hallmarks and tremolier screed ) and lid made of gilded silver ( gold rubbed ), silver coin from 1771 embedded in the lid, an imperial thaler with a portrait of Frederick II of Prussia. In the ground blue sword mark. H. 21.5 cm.
