A late 19th century French carriage clock timepiece Japy Freres, retailed by Batton, Paris The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle over an oval observation window, with further glazed panels to the sides and back, terminating in a moulded base. The 2.75-inch rectangular white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, signed Batton, Paris. The single-train movement fitted with a finely made Swiss lever platform escapement, powered by a going barrel, the back plate signed Japy Frères & Co.. Currently ticking and sold together with a winding key. 18cms (7ins) high.
