Compiled by the British Directorate of Military Survey, they important details of local airfields, towns, roads, industries and railways, sourced from both from French maps, and information provided by the Resistance. The efficiency and completeness of these manuals demonstrate the extensive preparations undertaken by the Allies in advance of the landings. These sets were issued to both Allied Officers, and Platoon Commanders, and include 'Notes For American Users'.
