Direct descendant items from the Baker family that includes an Eagle head pommel Official's of Haiti small sword with gilt wash, fluted elliptical flat mother of pearl grips and foliate grip straps, shell guard has Coat of Arms from Haiti (1820-1849, 4 flag example) that includes Canons, Flags, Palm Tree, Flowers "Republique of Haiti", knuckle guard with a Maltese cross and a winged angel upon a globe. Double edged 31-3/8" blade with 14" false edge 16-1/2" double fullers.
An 18-1/2" x 23" framed under glass family register listing Obeb Baker III family genealogy and an oval framed photograph under glass reported by family member as being Obed and and another within frame of his second wife Rebecca Howes Nickerson (1833-1917. As I'D on reverse back board of frame.
Note: Baker sailed a 3-mast Schooner (Luther Child) which he sailed into the Harbor at Malta on December 10, 1849--the first American ship to do so. His reputation was such that the prestigious Boston and Philadelphia Steamship Co. made him Capt. of their overall steamship fleet. B&P company was a primary transport from Haiti.

Condition
Gilt loss consistant with age and use. 5/8" chip in the mother-of-pearl grip. Hilt guard is loose and swivels. Mottled blade patina.
