A large painted plaster figural group after the 1881 model by the American sculptor John Rogers (1829–1904), titled “A Frolic at the Old Homestead”.
The composition depicts four figures gathered around a seated elderly woman in a lively domestic scene, characteristic of Rogers’ narrative Victorian subjects.

Impressed to the base:
“A FROLIC AT THE OLD HOMESTEAD”
and
“JOHN ROGERS / NEW YORK / 1881”

This example is considered a genuine period cast, likely dating to circa 1890, retaining its original painted surface with natural age-related wear and patina throughout.
The modelling remains crisp, particularly to the faces, drapery and hands, with the overall surface character consistent with late 19th-century production rather than later decorative reproductions.

Presented in good overall condition with minor rubbing and wear to the painted finish, most noticeably to the blindfold and raised areas of the standing figure.
Baize lining to underside for protection.
