Élizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti began their illustrious design partnership in 1981, designing furniture and lighting on the forefront of a new romanticism that celebrated whimsy, absurdity and luxury. The duo were named 'Designers of the Year' at the International Furniture Fair in 1991. Examples of their work is held in at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.

Various indicators of wear - with nicks, dents, marks and scratches to the surface, in line with age and use, please see additional images
The ropes on each corner are worn, particularly to two of the ones at the back
Two rope holes at the back of one chair are ripped, please see additional images
There are a few more prominent scratches and there is one deep one (perhaps has even cut in/through the leather), on the side
The leather has softened and darkened a little in places, you would expect from use - particularly at the arms. There are more nicks, dints and marks around the cylinder feet but these are out of view
