John Kendell ( fl.1783-1863), is listed in the G.Beard & C.Gilbert, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, as an important Leeds maker, their work is considered equal in quality to their main but more prolific rival of Gillows.
In 1863 the firm was taken over by March & Jones, another firm of high repute.
